walking barefoot
down a long dusty dirt road
hawk circles high above
fairylights dancing
on the dark waters below
moonlight on ducks wake
gourmet butterfly
dines at one rose, then another
which will win four stars?
just two months ago
this trees leaves were emeralds
now, magically gold
smell of woodsmoke
pumpkin glows in early morning sun
evening of year
capricious breeze
lifts high, then drops, autumn leaves
going its fickle way
low scudding rainclouds
warming their gray bottoms
on blaze of autumn leaves
carved pumpkin, eyes alight
greets princesses and pirates
who would have dreamed
frost on window panes
fork full of pumpkin pie
hearth and heart are warm
